Kimball Park in National City, rejuvenated with a community-led beautification in 2018, offers a vibrant setting for outdoor activities and Pokémon research.
The park’s revitalization included the installation of unique solar-powered totem poles, designed by local artist Vicki Leon, near the basketball court at the southern entrance. These totem poles, each distinct in design with metal and acrylic glass, reflect light in various colors, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. Volunteers also installed and painted new rocks and walkways, enhancing the park’s aesthetic appeal.
The park features the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater, walking paths looping throughout, large open grassy areas, three ball diamonds, a full-court basketball court, a skate park, a recreation center, and restroom facilities.
Located next to City Hall and the National City Public Library, Kimball Park is a great spot for Pokémon encounters, offering a mix of recreational facilities and artistic elements.
