Trainers, the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park is a unique 20-acre zoo that specializes in the animals and plants of Central and South America. Welcoming over 270,000 visitors annually, the zoo has been a vibrant part of the community since its opening in 1952. It is known for its adherence to founder Joseph Prentice’s requirement to maintain at least 50 monkeys at all times, contributing to its extensive primate collection.
The zoo is a family-friendly destination that combines wildlife observation with interactive activities. Visitors can enjoy a variety of animals, including monkeys, anteaters, and diverse aviary. The Safari Playground near Bean Sprouts café, set against a bamboo backdrop, and the Ferris wheel are among the key attractions.
Adjacent to the main playground, the Crean Family Farm features barnyard animals and fun rides like the Zoofari Express Train Ride and Conservation Carousel. Educational play areas, including the Turtle Life Cycle and Dung Beetle Roll, offer engaging learning experiences.
