Montgomery Waller Park in San Diego, spanning 60 acres, is a site of historical significance. On August 28, 1883, John Montgomery achieved the first controlled flight with his glider aircraft from a hillside in Otay Mesa, a momentous event in aviation history commemorated at this park. In 1950, a 90-foot wing from a World War II Consolidated Aircraft B-32 “Dominator” heavy bomber was dedicated to this site.
The park’s amenities include two lighted basketball courts, multi-purpose athletic fields for various sports, small family picnic areas, bathroom facilities, and spaces for large events. The Recreation Center features a gymnasium for indoor sports.
A notable feature for Pokémon trainers is the 0.68-mile (1.1km) loop-able walking path, perfect for hatching eggs, with PokéStops along the perimeter.
